The forest kindergarten is a form of the kindergarten, which originates from Scandinavia. There is it, as usual in the rural clearance always already and always still to let the children play outside. In Denmark a nut/mother in the fifties, that often went with its own and the neighbour children into the forest , lived. Interested parents united and created an initiative, which brought the first forest kindergarten into being.
Although the first German forest kindergarten is old already over thirty years, the movement found to larger resemblance only for the nineties. At present numerous new groups are created. Today there are about 300 forest kindergartens in Germany.
The philosophy of a forest kindergarten consists of the fact that a group of approx.. 15 children with at least two care persons daily into the forest, on the meadows, into free nature go and independently of the weather. There the educational work takes place, as it is carried out otherwise in "normal" kindergartens. There is no normal premises and no "commercial" toy. One plays with everything that the forest gives in addition.
Around in Germany the operation permit to receive must be nevertheless for extremely unleidiges weather a heatable shelter - e.g. in form of a building or a circus car - to a wood hut or an area in a firm house at the disposal. But (for example in Munich) aufwaendige building permits are necessary.
The Rechtsfom of a forest kindergarten is usually the registered association (e.V.). The educational personnel are then employees of this association. Financially a forest kindergarten carries by national subsidies, donations and parents contributions. The national subsidies are however different from place to place.
